During MDLAB 2014, Dr. Lina Ghaibeh presented a unique lecture on propaganda found in comic books and magazines aimed towards children. Dr. Ghaibeh explained how for example the Arabic language “Fus-ha” was inforced in Arabic literature aimed for kids in Egypt to preserve the Arab identity. She also gave examples from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria and how the Arab comic industry changed its direction from more conservative topics to showing a new face and a modern face of Arabs and Muslims post September 11.
