In her lecture ‘Power of Data”, Dr. Monika Halkort discussed three main questions: How can we live well with data?, what kind of obligations exist towards our data?, and how can we ensure these ethical obligations are met?
Dr. Monica Halkort is an assistant professor of digital media and social communication at the Lebanese American University, Department of Communication Arts. Her research explores the social life of data, focusing in particular on the relationship between digital infrastructures and political claim making in the context of social struggle and humanitarian aid. The geographic focus of her work is the Arab world.
